Sahih International

(37:35) Indeed they, when it was said to them, “There is no deity but Allah,” were arrogant

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(37:35) Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah “(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah),” they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(37:35) For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(37:35) For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,

(37:35) Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah;
