أَوَمَنْ يُنَشَّأُ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ

Sahih International

(43:18) So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allah]?

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(43:18) (Do they then like for Allah) a creature who is brought up in adornments (wearing silk and gold ornaments, i.e. women), and in dispute cannot make herself clear?

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(43:18) (Liken they then to Allah) that which is bred up in outward show, and in dispute cannot make itself plain?

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(43:18) Is then one brought up among trinkets, and unable to give a clear account in a dispute (to be associated with Allah)?

(43:18) What! that which is made in ornaments and which in contention is unable to make plain speech!
