وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَىٰ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا أَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ بَشَرًا رَسُولًا

Sahih International

(17:94) And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, “Has Allah sent a human messenger?”

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(17:94) And nothing prevented men from believing when the guidance came to them, except that they said: “Has Allah sent a man as (His) Messenger?”

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(17:94) And naught prevented mankind from believing when the guidance came unto them save that they said: Hath Allah sent a mortal as (His) messenger?

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(17:94) What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, “Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger?”

(17:94) And nothing prevented people from believing when the guidance came to them except that they said: What! has Allah raised up a mortal to be an apostle?
