قَالَ هِيَ رَاوَدَتْنِي عَنْ نَفْسِي ۚ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا إِنْ كَانَ قَمِيصُهُ قُدَّ مِنْ قُبُلٍ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

Sahih International

(12:26) [Joseph] said, “It was she who sought to seduce me.” And a witness from her family testified. “If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(12:26) He [Yusuf (Joseph)] said: “It was she that sought to seduce me,” – and a witness of her household bore witness (saying): “If it be that his shirt is torn from the front, then her tale is true and he is a liar!

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(12:26) (Joseph) said: She it was who asked of me an evil act. And a witness of her own folk testified: If his shirt is torn from before, then she speaketh truth and he is of the liars.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(12:26) He said: “It was she that sought to seduce me – from my (true) self.” And one of her household saw (this) and bore witness, (thus):- “If it be that his shirt is rent from the front, then is her tale true, and he is a liar!

(12:26) He (Joseph) said: “She it was who sought to enjoy herself by me.” And one of those present, a member of her household, said: “If his shirt has been torn from the front, she is telling the truth, and he is a liar.

(12:26) He (- Joseph) said, `No, (it is not so as she describes but) she it was who sought to seduce me against my will.´ Now a (learned) witness of her own family bore a (circumstantial) evidence (saying), `If his shirt has been torn from the front then she speaks the truth and he is of the liars.

(12:26) He said: “She seduced/enticed me from myself.” And a witness/testifier from her family/relation/people witnessed/testified: “If his shirt/dress was ripped/cut from (the) front , so she was truthful and he we was from the liars/falsifiers .

(12:26) (Joseph) said: “It was she who wanted to seduce me.” And a witness from her family testified: “If the shirt is torn from the front then the woman is speaking the truth, and he is a liar.
