تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ

Quran surah As Sajdah 16 in english translation

Sahih International

(32:16) They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(32:16) Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in Allah’s Cause) out of what We have bestowed on them.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(32:16) Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(32:16) Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(32:16) Their sides draw away from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.

(32:16) Their sides often shun (their) recumbencies (i.e; beds, places for reclining) to invoke their Lord in fear and in longing (from Him); and they expend of what We have provided them.

(32:16) Their sides forsake their beds at night, calling out to their Lord in fear (of His punishment) and hope (for His forgiveness, grace, and good pleasure), and out of what We have provided for them (of wealth, knowledge, power, etc;) they spend (to provide sustenance for the needy and in God’s cause, purely for the good pleasure of God and without placing others under obligation).

(32:16) (While getting up for late-night, Tahajjud Prayer) they forsake (their comfortable) beds calling upon their Lord with an awe-inspired and hopeful state of mind. And they spend out of that which We have provided them.

Literal

(32:16) Their sides distances/becomes restless from the places of laying down (beds), they call their Lord fearfully and desiring/coveting , and from what We provided for them they spend.

(32:16) Their backs do not rest on their beds, and they pray to their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of what We have given them (in charity).

(32:16) Their sides shun their couches as they call on their Lord in fear and hope; and they expend of that We have provided them.
