إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

Quran surah Al Maidah 34 in english translation

Sahih International

(5:34) Except for those who return [repenting] before you apprehend them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(5:34) Except for those who (having fled away and then) came back (as Muslims) with repentance before they fall into your power; in that case, know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(5:34) Save those who repent before ye overpower them. For know that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(5:34) Except for those who repent before they fall into your power: in that case, know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Know that God surely is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate (especially toward His servants who turn to Him in repentance).

(5:34) Different, however, is the case of those (criminals) who turn with repentance before you overpower them. And know that, surely, Allâh is Great Protector, Ever Merciful.
