Quran surah Al Hujurat 5 in english translation

Sahih International

(49:5) And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(49:5) And if they had patience till you could come out to them, it would have been better for them. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(49:5) And if they had had patience till thou camest forth unto them, it had been better for them. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(49:5) If only they had patience until thou couldst come out to them, it would be best for them: but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(49:5) And if they wait patiently until you come out to them, it would certainly be better for them, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Dr. Ghali

(49:5) And if only they (waited) patiently, until you go out to them, that would be more charitable (i.e; better) for them; and Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.

Ali Unal

(49:5) If (instead of shouting to you to come out to them) they had been patient until you came out to them, it would certainly have been better for them (in respect of the manners due to you from them). However, God is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate (especially toward His believing servants, and may forgive ill-manners arising from ignorance).

Amatul Rahman Omar

(49:5) If they only had patience to wait until you could come out to them it would be better for them, yet Allâh is Great Protector (against faults), Ever Merciful.

Literal

(49:5) And if that they were patient until you get out/emerge to them, (it) would have been better for them, and God (is) forgiving, merciful.

Ahmed Ali

(49:5) If they had waited for you to come out it would have been better for them. But God is forgiving and kind.

A. J. Arberry

Faridul Haque

(49:5) And had they been patient until you yourself came out to them, it would be better for them

Talal Itani
