Quran surah Al Maidah 53 in english translation

Sahih International

(5:53) And those who believe will say, “Are these the ones who swore by Allah their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?” Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(5:53) And those who believe will say: “Are these the men (hypocrites) who swore their strongest oaths by Allah that they were with you (Muslims)?” All that they did has been in vain (because of their hypocrisy), and they have become the losers.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(5:53) Then will the believers say (unto the people of the Scripture): are these they who swore by Allah their most binding oaths that they were surely with you? Their works have failed, and they have become the losers.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(5:53) And those who believe will say: “Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?” All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(5:53) And those who believe will say: Are these they who swore by Allah with the most forcible of their oaths that they were most surely with you? Their deeds shall go for nothing, so they shall become losers.

Dr. Ghali

(5:53) And the ones who have believed say, “Are these the ones who swore by Allah their most earnest oaths that surely they were indeed with you? Their deeds are frustrated, so they have become losers.”

Ali Unal

(5:53) And those who believe will say (to each other): “Are those the self-same people who swore by God their most solemn oaths that they were indeed with you?” Their works have gone to waste and they have become losers.

Amatul Rahman Omar

(5:53) And those who have believed will say (at that time), `Are these they who swore by Allâh their most solemn oaths that they were surely with you?´ Their deeds have gone waste (and their machination failed), so that they have become the losers.

Literal

(5:53) And those who believed, say: “Are those, those who swore by God their right`s/oath`s utmost that they (are) with you (E), their deeds wasted, so they became losers .

Ahmed Ali

(5:53) Then the believers will say: “Are these the people who had sworn by God on solemn oath and said: “We are surely with you?” Wasted have been all their deeds, and losers they remain.

A. J. Arberry

(5:53) and the believers will say, ‘What, are these the ones who swore by God most earnest oaths that they were with you? Their works have failed now they are losers.’

Abdul Majid Daryabadi

(5:53) And those who believe will say: are those they who swear by Allah say their solemn oaths that they were verily with you? Their works came to naught, and they found themselves losers.

Maulana Mohammad Ali

(5:53)-

Muhammad Sarwar

(5:53) The believers say, “Are these the people who proclaimed themselves to be our sworn friends?” Their deeds have become devoid of all virtue and they themselves have become lost.

Hamid Abdul Aziz

(5:53) O you who believe! Whoever of you turns away from his religion, Allah will bring (instead) a people whom He loves and who love Him, humble to believers, stern to unbelievers, striving in the way of Allah, fearing not the blame (or reproach) of any blamer (or critic). That is Allah´s Grace! He gives it unto whom He pleases, for Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.

Faridul Haque

(5:53) And the believers say, Are these the ones who swore by Allah most vehemently in their oaths, that they are with you? All their deeds are destroyed, so they are ruined.

Talal Itani

(5:53) Those who believe will say, “Are these the ones who swore by God with their strongest oaths that they are with you?” Their works have failed, so they became losers.

Ahmed Raza Khan

(5:53) And the believers say, “Are these the ones who swore by Allah most vehemently in their oaths, that they are with you?” All their deeds are destroyed, so they are ruined.

Wahiduddin Khan

(5:53) Then the believers will say, “Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by God, that they were with you?” Their works will come to nothing and they will lose all.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

(5:53) And those who believe will say: “Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah that they were with you” All that they did has been in vain, and they have become the losers.

Ali Quli Qarai

(5:53) and the faithful will say, ‘Are these the ones who swore by Allah with solemn oaths that they were with you?!’ Their works have failed, and they have become losers.

Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish

(5:53) Then the believers will say: ‘Are those (the ones) who solemnly swore by Allah that they would stand by you’ Their works will be annulled and they shall be the losers.   That is translated surah Al Maidah ayat 53 (QS 5: 53) in arabic and english text, may be useful.
