فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Quran surah Al A’raf 77 in english translation

Sahih International

(7:77) So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, “O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers.”

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(7:77) So they killed the she-camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: “O Salih (Saleh)! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah).”

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(7:77) So they hamstrung the she-camel, and they flouted the commandment of their Lord, and they said: O Salih! Bring upon us that thou threatenest if thou art indeed of those sent (from Allah).

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(7:77) Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: “O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!”

(7:77) So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord’s commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles.

(7:77) So they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the Command of their Lord, and said, “O Salih, come up to us with what you promise us, in case you are one of the Emissaries.”

(7:77) Then (without enduring any longer to see her as evidence of the truth of Salih’s message), they cruelly slaughtered the she-camel, and disdainfully disobeyed the command of their Lord, and said: “O Salih! Bring upon us that (punishment) with which you have threatened us, if you are of those sent (by God with the truth)!”

(7:77) So they hamstrung the she-camel and flouted the commandment of their Lord and said, `O Sâlih! bring down on us the punishment you used to threatens us with, if you are really one of the sent ones (by God).´

Literal

(7:77) So they wounded/slaughtered/made the female camel infertile and they became arrogant/disobedient from their Lord`s order/command, and they said: “You Saleh, come/bring to us with what you promise us if you are from the messengers.”

(7:77) Then they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord, and said: “Bring, O Saleh, on us the affliction you promise, if you are one of the sent ones.”
