وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَرْكُومٌ

Quran surah At Tur 44 in english translation

Sahih International

(52:44) And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, “[It is merely] clouds heaped up.”

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(52:44) And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: “Clouds gathered in heaps!”

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(52:44) And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(52:44) Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: “Clouds gathered in heaps!”

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(52:44) And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds.

Dr. Ghali

(52:44) And in case they saw a dark lump falling down from the heaven, they would say, “Accumulated clouds!”

(52:44) (So obstinate are they in rejecting the truth that) if they saw a piece of the sky falling down (on them), they would say, “This is (only) a heap of clouds!” (For they cannot conceive that it may be a punishment for their obstinate denial).

(52:44) And (even) if they see a fragment of the sky falling down (in the form of punishment) they would say, `(It is only) piled up clouds (and not a sign of punishment whatsoever).

Literal

(52:44) And if they see/understand pieces from the sky/space dropping/falling they say: “Piled/accumulated/heaped clouds.”

(52:44) If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: “It is only a massive cloud.”
